Southwark Alliance

How We Work

Southwark Alliance is a formally constituted partnership that brings together key agencies and individuals. It does not have its own legal powers, but works by agreement across the partners.

Each member is committed to listening to the views of Southwark Alliance, and where possible will align the priorities of their own organisation with the overall goals of the Alliance.

The business of Southwark Alliance is governed by our Standing Orders (PDF). These set out the membership, conduct of meetings, the role of the Chairs and Vice-Chairs, and how decisions are made.

Meetings are held approximately every two months, and are open to the public as observers. Details are posted on the website. Because of safety requirements on numbers, it is best to let us know in advance if you would like to come along. Agendas and Minutes can be accessed via the website. So too can the papers discussed at each meeting. But if you want paper copies sent to you, please click Contact Us

Each meeting focuses on one or two topics. The emphasis is on strategic 'big picture' challenges and solutions. Each partner takes away the ideas and decisions, and makes them work on the ground.

Every year in the autumn, Southwark Alliance holds a Stakeholder Event. This brings together about 200 organisations in the borough that have a direct interest in what the Alliance is aiming to achieve. This is an opportunity to hold the Alliance accountable for its work, and to inform the next phase of its work.
