A key aim of the Southwark Alliance is Neighbourhood Renewal - improving the quality of life for people living in our most deprived neighbourhoods.

Dulwich Park

On the government's Index of Multiple Deprivation 2007, Southwark is the 26th most deprived borough in the country measured by average scores for neighbourhoods within the borough. Approximately 58% of the population lives in a ward within the 20% most deprived neighbourhoods in the country.

To help target our effort and resources, we deliver our work through a thematic programme and an area programme.

Each of the areas we work in include 2 Community Councils.

In each area Renewal Managers have a team of staff who work with the main agencies to support them to deliver more responsive services based on feedback from local people. There are also teams of community development workers who work with residents to develop community activities and become more active in their local area.
