Regeneration Partnerships
To promote regeneration and renewal, there are a number of formal partnerships working in particular areas of Southwark. More information and other links about these can be found on www.southwark.gov.uk
Aylesbury New Deal for Communities
In 1999 the Aylesbury New Deal for Communities (NDC) was set up to improve the quality of life for Aylesbury residents. It is supported by a £56.2 million budget from the Government and forms a partnership made up of residents, community organisations, Southwark Council and other statutory agencies works to improve the Aylesbury estate, which is part of Faraday Ward.
Since its inception the Aylesbury NDC programme has helped to:
- Improve educational results for children on the estate.
- Improve the health of residents.
- Lower crime and fear of crime.
- Assist hundreds of people into employment.
The Aylesbury NDC board has set up a community development trust to ensure that all the important work that has been started under the NDC will continue. The trust will be called Creation and will support social projects in and around the Aylesbury area, support the development of social enterprises and support residents.

Better Bankside BID
Better Bankside is a Business Improvement District, an independent business led company which seeks to improve a given location for commercial activity. Better Bankside aims to improve the quality of the area it represents by improving the economic, tourist and social environment and enhance the competiveness of its businesses. It is a company owned, funded and led by employers in the bankside area of London. Better Bankside in a member of the Southwark Enterprise Partnership.

Team London Bridge BID
Team London Bridge is a Business Improvement District established in 2005 and funded by local businesses in the area between London Bridge and Tower Bridge on the south of the Thames, Team London Bridge is dedicated to maintaining London Bridge as; 'a world-class business district and visitor destination that is better managed, cared-for and connected' by promoting tourism, improving the environmental, social and economic development of the area and business competitiveness. Team London Bridge is a member of the Southwark Enterprise Partnership.

Waterloo Quarter Business Alliance
Waterloo Quarter BID is a business-led organisation, committed to improving the area of Waterloo. As an official Business Improvement District (BID), Waterloo Quarter works with and for businesses, securing funding to deliver a range of projects in the local area to improve economic performance and the physical environment, as well as acting as a voice for businesses to speak directly to organisations such as the Council, Transport for London and the Police.
Waterloo Quarter BID was established in the Lambeth area of Waterloo on 1st April 2006 following a successful ballot of local businesses and expanded across the borough boundary into Southwark after a second successful ballot in February 2008, to reflect the more natural commercial area of Waterloo.

Central London Forward
The City of London Corporation is the contracting body for a new local authority-led partnership for Central London - Central London Forward (CLF).
CLF comprises six of the boroughs in the Central Activities Zone (as defined in the London Plan). The CLF boroughs are: City of London, City of Westminster, Kensington & Chelsea, Camden, Islington, and Southwark. The private sector and third sector feed into CLF through Advisory Panels and Local Strategic Partnerships.
Set up during 2007, Central London Forward’s purposes are:
- To influence policy on major issues affecting Central London, including making the case for additional resources.
- To promote the strategic importance and needs of Central London with a focus on sustainable economic development and the improvement of the quality of life of workers, residents and visitors.
- To identify and co-operate on areas of mutual interest to partners, including tourism, the Olympics and its legacy

Cross River Partnership
Formed in 1995, the Cross River Partnership covers the four boroughs of Southwark, Lambeth, Westminster and the Corporation of London. Other partners include the London Development Agency, Business Link, Groundwork, Learning and Skills Council, London Tourist Board, Port of London Authority, Network Rail, South Bank Employers Group and Transport for London.
The partnership is committed to:
- Maintaining and strengthening links between key areas on the north and south bank of the Thames;
- Maintaining and strengthening the transformation of the south side of the river as a centre for business, leisure, tourism and residential communities and manage the impact of the transformation;
- Work with residents, businesses and local communities to ensure that they have access to the benefits of regeneration and new employment opportunities.

South Bermondsey Partnership
The Partnership covers the South Bermondsey ward and the northern part of the Livesey ward. This area is known as the South Bermondsey and North Livesey priority neighbourhood. The South Bermondsey Partnership is a Neighbourhood Management Pathfinder. Neighbourhood Management Pathfinders have been set up in deprived areas to help improve services for local people. This is a 7-year programme to help poorer areas catch up with better off ones, through improving local services and making the neighbourhood a better place to live. It has a partnership board that includes councillors, school representatives, members of the police and local residents.
