Population Profiles

The Southwark Alliance has supported the creation of an analytical hub to provide an evidence based approach to improving services in the borough.

The 'hub' has collected data and produced the following reports;

1. Community Council Profiles

Community council population reports: Now and the future are available here:-

Bermondsey, Borough and Bankside, Camberwell, Dulwich, Nunhead and Peckham Rye , Peckham, Rotherhithe, and Walworth.

2. Indices of Deprivation

Indices of Deprivation 2007

Available online is the 2007 Southwark ID profile report. Individual reports are also available for each Community Council area:-

Bermondsey, Borough and Bankside, Camberwell, Dulwich, Nunhead and Peckham Rye, Peckham, Rotherhithe, and Walworth.

Indices of Deprivation 2004

There is an information booklet that includes explanations surrounding the Indices of Deprivation 2004 data.

There are ID 2004 individual reports available for each Community Council area (as listed above) and Priority Neighbourhood.

Available online is the ID 2004 Southwark-wide ID report.

3. Southwark Data File.

The analytical hub has also produced a data file that look at Southwark's position in relation to comparable areas in London and National averages. There are also breakdowns by area within Southwark. This report is available upon request.

4. Southwark Vital Statistics

London Borough of Southwark is a dynamic place and it is important that the most up to date and reliable demographics are available. The Analytical Hub produces a summary page that reports on Southwark’s Vital Statistics. This report is regularly updated and reports on population estimates, education figures, mortality ratios, unemployment figures and other key data.

5. Ethnicity Reports

The Analytical Hub has produced a series of individual reports that cover the 16 different ethnic groups that people identified with on the 2001 census.

The full reports use Census 2001 data, the 2005 Pupil Level Annual School Census (PLASC), Health and Social Care data and Hospital Episodes Statistics (HES) to provide information on each ethnic group in Southwark.

An executive summary of all the reports is available as well as each individual report;

White British; Black African; Black Caribbean; White Other; White Irish; Other Black; Chinese; Indian; Bangladeshi; Other Ethnic Group; White and Black Caribbean; Other Mixed; White and Black African; Other Asian; White and Asian; and Pakistani.

There are also three thematic reports available;

General Population; Education; and Health and Social Care.

6. Southwark’s Population: Now and the Future

The Analytical Hub has produced the report: Southwark Population: Now and the Future (207kb). This report looks at the current population of Southwark, how it has changed since 2001 and how it might change in the next 20 years.
